Business Spotlight: m studio interior design

If your kitchen or bathroom could use a makeover, but you're not sure where to begin, look no further than Garnet Avenue, where award-winning interior designer Megan Siason is ready to work on remodel of your dreams.

Where are you from and how long have you lived and/or worked in PB?
I'm a San Diego native who grew up in South Bay area and has lived in Pacific Beach for the past 4 years.

What does your business specialize in?
We specialize in many facets of residential interior design, and we ensure functionality and visually pleasing characteristics go into every project. This includes furnishing living spaces, remodeling kitchens and bathrooms, and creatively dressing up fireplace walls or entertainment units. At m studio interior design, we are dedicated to fashioning interiors while providing quality service to meet the needs of every client.

When and why did you start your business?
After what felt like decades of design school, examinations, certifications, internships, and finally working with other design firms, I decided to start my own design business in 2015. Like many other sole proprietors and budding entrepreneurs, I initially operated the business out of my adorable apartment on Thomas Street before moving down a few blocks into a designated office space.

In terms of the "why," I've always had a desire to help people recreate their spaces, both from a functional and aesthetically pleasing standpoint. The reward is seeing how the spatial transformations positively impact the end users--families, couples, bachelors...even pets! An interior designer's touch offers more than just making a space look pretty. At m studio interior design it's about capturing unique lifestyles.

What distinguishes m studio from local designers?
It's all about the experience! The processes offered by m studio interior design are much more engaging and collaborative. We keep our clients and homeowners in mind and guide them into making the right decisions for their home investments.

And although we are a small design business, m studio interior design has won awards within a local design organization and ASID (American Society of Interior Designers). Our work has also been published several times in San Diego Home & Garden magazine.

What do you like to do when you're not working?
Rollerblading on the boardwalk, binge-watching stand-up and Game of Thrones, beach days, happy hour, delicious brunches, concerts and festivals, yoga on Law Street, reformer pilates...and of course getting together together with the trivia crew at SandBox Pizza...almost every Thursday. Bless their hearts.

What are a few of your favorite PB businesses?
Poke Chop is hands-down my favorite poke spot! Albert and his crew always welcome me with a smile. And did I mention their poke is bomb!? Alta Marea is this little hidden gem off Thomas and Cass. Amazing, authentic Italian food! And Sprouts...gotta love Sprouts!
